TV stars to be part of new Cedar Crest summer course - Blogs

Cedar Crest College in Allentown is offering a brand new course in Arts and Entertainment Marketing that will give students the chance to work with film and TV stars.

During the course, open to college students and high school seniors, students will take a production from script to stage guided by a creative team that includes actor Dan Lauria, actress Kate Vernon and ?director Frank Megna.

Lauria, who is best known as the father in the Emmy-award-winning series "The Wonder Years" has appeared as a guest star in over seventy TV shows and been in more than twenty Movie Of The Weeks.? He is currently starring in the new TBS sitcom, " Sullivan & Son" as Jack Sullivan.? Lauria was recently on? Broadway as the legendary coach Vince Lombardi in the "Lombard."

Vernon has had many reoccurring roles on TV series including "Battlestar Galactica," "Nash Bridges," "L.A. Law," "Hunter" and "Falcon Crest." She has been a guest star on "Bones," "Heroes," "Saving Grace," "The Mentalist," "CSI," and "Battlestar Galactica: The Plan." Most recently she was in the Syfy show "Red Faction."

Megna is a New York trained actor, writer and director who has written for? TV shows including "Crime Story," "Wiseguy" and "Veronica Claire." Megna has conducted many acting and writing workshops and seminars and is founder and artistic director of the Working Stage Theater located in West Hollywood

The 3-credit course which runs Fridays and Saturdays, July 12, 13, 26, 27 and Aug. 10 and 11, will focus on the development of concepts and strategies necessary to be successful in the? entertainment field. Particular emphasis is placed on the creation and execution of a marketing plan for the purpose of promoting an ?entertainment product? that will be produced by the students in the class.

Students will learn how to develop and execute a marketing plan for a new production; stage a new production, act on stage with a Hollywood director, work with local professionals Kevin Gallagher and James Ogden and coordinate with professionals from Artsquest and Haydenfilms Institute.
